Softball teams split
The Marion High School baseball team won both games Tuesday against Lyons.
The Warriors scored 10 runs in both games; winning the first game in six innings, 12-2, and won the second game, 10-2.
The Lions could not get Wil Case out. Case went 6-for-6 with six RBI in the cleanup spot. He often drove in Brian Fruecthing who also had a monster night with the bat, going 6-for-7 from the plate with five runs and seven RBI.
Marshall Ragland pitched all seven innings for the win in the second game.
The Warrior softball team split with Lyons losing the first game, 4-1, but winning the second contest, 12-10.
Alex Cain scored Brooke Johnson on an RBI single but three Warriors were stranded on a double play line out in the sixth inning of the first game.
The Warriors were behind 5-0 after the first inning of the second game but responded with a five-run inning of their own in the second. Marion put together four more runs in the third.
Lyons tied the score at nine in the fifth, but Sarah Guetersloh scored on an error in the bottom of the inning. Lyons again knotted the score in the sixth, but J.D. Schafers drove in Johnson and Cain drove in Schafers with a triple to take the 12-10 final advantage.
