Although state track was rained out Friday afternoon, Marion Warriors showed up Saturday to bright skies and two team members placing in the top three in their events.
Marion senior Kristen Herzet placed second in girls discus, while Tyler Palic placed third in boys.
Coach Grant Thierolf said that state track was a good end to the season.
“Our kids competed very well,” Thierolf said. “It was a good year.”
Other top five placers included: Marissa Jacobson, fourth in long jump and fifth in triple jump; girls 4x400 meter relay, fifth; Jack Schneider, fourth in both 100- and 200-meter dash; and Colin Williams, fifth in the 1600.
Overall, Marion boys placed 10th in the 3A division, while Marion girls placed 11th.
“I thought we had a good day,” Thierolf said. “Most of our kids performed very well and were able to end up on the award stand.”
