MHS track team finishes second in meet

The Marion High School boys and girls track teams finished second at the Marion Central Kansas Track League meet Tuesday.

The girls team was led by freshman Kaelyn Thierolf who won the 1600-meter run, with a time of 6 minutes, 17.12 seconds, and the 3200, 13:26.83.

Thierolf was also on the second-place 4x400 relay team with Katey Ehrlich, Erin Meierhoff, and Whitney Gordon, 4:38.06.

Junior Gordon also finished first in the high jump, with a jump of 5 feet.

Sophomore Meierhoff finished third in the long jump, 13-10.

Freshman Ehrlich finished second in the 300 hurdles, 54.32.

Freshman Kelli Hess tied for first in the pole vault, 6-0.

Sophomore Sarah Eurit finished third in the 200, 30.76.

Sophomore Patrick McCarty had the best day for the boys squad. He won the triple jump with a leap of 40-5.50 and the high jump, 6-0. He placed third in the 400, 54.28.

Fellow sophomore Jordan Hett finished first in the 1600, 5:02.99, and second in the 3200, 10:54.30.

Junior Colten Johnson won the javelin, 157-08. He also placed second in the 110 hurdles, 17.27. He was also part of two placing relay teams: the 4x100 team with junior Mikael Antoszyk, sophomore Brody Carroll, and freshman John Norquist, 48.13; and the 4x400-relay team with freshman James Jones, Carroll, and senior Dillon Richmond, 3:51.94.

Senior Connor Thierolf won the shot put, 40-3.25, and placed second in the javelin, 146-03.

Sophomore Zach Hammond placed second in the pole vault, 11-0, and third in the high jump, 5-0.

Junior Dakin Ledford finished second in the discus, 113-10. Nick Meyer finished second, 11-04.

Sophomore Spencer Fugitt finished third in the javelin, 132-10.

The 4x800 team of sophomore Jacob Cope, sophomore Clark Kroupa, freshman Timothy Knolla, and senior Michael Kirkpatrick finished third with a time of 9:56.10.

The Marion track team will compete in Marion Relays Friday.
