The Marion High School wrestling team took six wrestlers Saturday to Eskridge for the Mission Valley Invitational, but did well enough to finish fourth out of 19 teams entered.

The Warriors scored 118.5 points, with Brody Carroll and Colten Johnson claiming championships in their divisions.

Carroll won all four of his matches to win the 138-pound class. Johnson was undefeated in three matches in the 160-pound division.

Eric Regnier, with two wins and one loss, placed second in the 120-pound class. Evan Slater, 3-1, finished third in the 220-pound class, Cole Lewman, 2-2, was fourth at 152 pounds, and Beretta Janzen, 2-2, placed fourth in the 106-pound division.

“We wrestled very well for our first tournament,” Marion head coach Chad Adkins said. “We will continue to work on our conditioning and add new pieces of our offense every day.”

Junior varsity wrestlers competed Saturday in Emporia. Kyle Palic and Zac Lewman earned first place finishes. Second-place honors were earned by Miller Hendrix and Derrick Dvorack. Nathan Cyr placed third, and Quinton Hett fourth.
