Miles by Design more than a salon

Staff writer

Cosmetologist Karen Miles, owner and operator of Miles by Design, says her salon at 420 E. Main St. in Marion, goes beyond what other salons have to offer. It’s not just a salon, but a full-service salon and day spa.

As a day spa, it provides a variety of services for improving health, beauty, and relaxation through personal care treatments such as massages and facials.

The day spa is in a back room that provides a calming, relaxing atmosphere compared with the high-energy front room with stations for hair styling. The day spa provides advanced, clinical treatment for skin problems such as acne and rosacea and offers skin peels and waxing. The spa also is equipped to do nails and provide pedicures, which are foot and toenail treatments. Products are available to help guests maintain their health after treatment. The brightly lighted salon area of the business has three hair-styling stations and carries a full line of Redkin hair products, Mirabella makeup, and styling tools such as blow dryers, flat irons, and curling irons.

Miles has been in the salon business since 1989. She operated a salon out of her home between Marion and Hillsboro for 20 years before purchasing the Marion salon in February.

Certified cosmetologists Tiffany Westney and Debbie Willingham, both of Marion, work with Miles. They have combined experience of more than 20 years.

Miles’ daughter, Kaylee, will join them in May after she graduates from Xenon International Academy in Wichita.

“The focus of our salon is to exceed guests’ expectations in all areas of service by providing professional services as a full-service day spa,” Miles said.
