MMS teams finish 2nd, 3rd

The Marion Middle School scholars’ bowl teams started the season by hosting a six-school meet.

The seventh grade division was closely contested as possible with three teams posting a 3-2 record and three teams at 2-3. The Marion seventh graders ended up in a three-way tie for first. The tiebreaker formula gave first to Remington, second to Sedgwick and third to Marion. The Wildcats defeated Remington, 65-55, Goessel, 55-20, and Canton-Galva, 70-40.

Devin Hamm led the team in scoring with 165 points followed by Zach Stuchlik and Logan Waner with 40 points each, and Austin Neufeld with 25. Carley Stapleford also participated.

In the eighth-grade division, Berean Academy posted a 5-0 record to claim first place. Marion and Remington both posted 3-2 records. Because Marion defeated Remington, the Wildcats claimed the second-place medal. Marion defeated Remington, 60-50, Goessel, 70-35, and Canton-Galva, 55-30.

Due to illness, the eighth grade team consisted of three members. Nathan Baldwin led the scoring 200 points followed by Cade Harms with 55 and Mason Pedersen with 30.
