Move east excites new principal
Staff writer
After spending all of his life in western Kansas, Trevor Siebert is happy to be closer to some of the bigger cities in Kansas.
Siebert, the new principal for grades 6 to 12 at Centre schools, and his wife, Rachelle, are excited about having a shorter commute to sports events at Kansas State University.
“We like the location,” he said. “We can get to other areas and still live and work in a small town.”
Siebert grew up at Colby and attended Colby Community College. He graduated from Fort Hays State University with degrees in secondary education and mathematics.
He taught at Russell for a year before going to Stanton County Junior/Senior High School in Johnson for seven years before to coming to Centre. Johnson is in extreme southwestern Kansas.
Siebert taught math, was head coach of the girls’ basketball team, and coached other sports, as well. He was principal there for two years.
“I saw it as an opportunity to enhance my career,” he said.
Siebert, who played basketball at Colby for one year, will be an assistant to girls’ basketball coach Alan Stahlecker.
Rachelle will assist in Centre’s Kansas Online Learning Program. They live in Pilsen.
Siebert has met most of the staff and connected with them through online meetings.
“I enjoy it here,” he said. “So far, it’s been a great place to work. The community has been open and very welcoming, and my interactions with staff have been great.”
He likes to play golf whenever he has extra time.
“I want Centre students to get the best education possible,” Siebert said. “I want them to be prepared for life after high school.”
