Musicians rated highly at state festival

The Marion High School band and choir each received a “I” rating — the highest rating available — at the state large group music festival April 16 in Lindsborg.

“[Band director] Chris Barlow and I are very excited that the students performed so well and were recognized in this way,” choir director Tim Cassidy said.

The next event for the band and choir is the state solo and ensemble music festival Saturday at Southeast of Saline. Vocal soloists Cade Harms, Adam Kjellin, Elizabeth Meyer, Shyla Harris, and John Lind, instrumental soloists Reann Hamm and Caitlyn Maloney, the MHS Singers, and men’s chorus will all perform.

The fifth- and sixth-grade band and choir will perform their spring concert at 7 p.m. Monday in the USD 408 Performing Arts Center.
