New city clerk selected

Sheila Makovec is likely to become Marion’s new city clerk.

At a special meeting Monday, council members gave administrator Roger Holter permission to offer Makovec the job.

“I presented her a job offer after last night’s meeting,” Holter said. “Now we’re just waiting for her to give us the OK.”

Makovec, is a Marion County native from the Pilsen and Ramona areas, is a recent graduate in marketing and economics from Kansas State University. Before returning to Marion, she was a teller at K-State Federal Credit Union in Manhattan. She will marry Travis Hett in May.

Mackovec was one of five candidates to apply. Two from out of town were not interviewed. The others were interviewed by a panel of city employees Friday.
