Norma Bird

Private services are planned for longtime Ramona resident Norma Jean Bird, 85, who died March 28 at her home in El Dorado.

Born in Springfield, Missouri, to Mack and Mable Whitlock, she moved around the country and overseas while her husband, Don Bird, was in the military until they settled in Ramona, where they lived for almost 30 years.

She ran Norma’s Attic in Ramona and Herington, worked in home health, she attended Rosebank Church for many years, and taught Sunday school as well as being a board member there.

Don and their son, Donnie, preceded her in death. In 2008, she married Zeb Wright, who survives. Other survivors include daughters Fern Leach, Cindy Bird, and Julie Bird; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers or memorials, mourners are being asked to do an act of kindness in her memory.
