HILLSBORO
Aggravated burglary, criminal threat, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespass
Mental illness and use of drugs and alcohol are suspected as contributing factors after a 43-year-old Hillsboro resident entered a 74-year-old friend’s private residence in the 300 block of S. Ash St. without permission at 7:03 p.m. Jan. 3 and made threats of violence toward people in the residence.
No signs of forced entry were found. The woman left before police arrived. She later was located, taken into custody, and transported to Hillsboro Community Hospital for a physical and mental evaluation.
On the recommendation of Prairie View mental health center, the woman was ordered committed to Larned State Mental Hospital by district court the next day. However, as of Monday, Hillsboro police were continuing to provide daily security for her at HCH until a bed opens up at Larned. Criminal charges also are pending.
