HILLSBORO

Theft, criminal damage

Wire worth an estimated $11,550 was reported stolen between 1:34 and 4:34 a.m. Jan. 30 from Elcon Services, 503 Orchard Dr.

Five padlocks on recycling boxes were broken to steal the copper and aluminum wire and tray cable.

Surveillance video captured the wire being loaded onto a pickup truck. Investigation is continuing.

MARION

Aggravated criminal threat and
interference with and battery of
law enforcement officers

Zachary S. Dvorak, 24, Marion, was arrested early Saturday after he allegedly threatened Marion VFW post employee Ashely N. Welch, 25, Marion, and kicked sheriff’s deputies Joel J. Womochil, 36, and Matt Regier, 41, and Marion officer Aaron Slater, 28.

According to monitored police transmissions, a woman telephoned dispatchers and said her fiancé was in the VFW, fighting with another man and threatening to “shoot the place up.”

After Dvorak’s arrest, Regier radioed jailers, advising them to “have the restraint chair ready.”

Dvorak, who also faces warrants from McPherson County, was released Sunday from Marion County Jail on $11,000 in surety bonds.
