A 1996 Dodge Ram pickup valued at $5,000 was reported stolen sometime during January from the rural Lehigh residence near 210th and Alamo Rds. of Douglas J. Koehn, who reported the theft Feb. 11.

HILLSBORO

Criminal damage, trespassing,
telecommunications harassment,
reckless driving

A 2017 Chervrolet Colorado owned by employee Jason S. Elliot, 38, of Moundridge sustained an estimated $1,802 in damage Thursday when a brick was thrown through its rear window in a parking lot at Hillsboro Industries, 220 Industrial Rd.

Former employee Kelby J. Schmidt, 28, Hillsboro, was arrested on suspicion of felony criminal damage to property after he allegedly returned to the parking lot weeks after his dismissal, broke the window, and drove recklessly as employees attempted to arrive for work.

He allegedly had been sending threatening text messages to former co-worker Elliot before the incident and had been told by the company not to return to its property after his termination.

Hillsboro officer Randy Brazil arrested him and has recommended additional charges of attempted harassment by a telecommunications device and reckless driving.

Schmidt was taken to Marion County Jail and released the next morning without bond, according to the jail’s inmate tracking system.
