HILLSBORO

Opiate and paraphernalia possession and traffic charges

A pipe and half a dose of buprenorphine hydrochloride, a drug intended to treat opioid addiction but subject to abuse on its own, were seized during a traffic stop at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 13 in the 200 block of N. Adams St.

The half-dose and pipe reportedly were found after officer John Huebert stopped a vehicle because it was displaying a license plate other than what had been assigned.

Sarah V. Smith, 44, Marion, was arrested on suspicion of possessing an opioid and drug paraphernalia and of driving with an unassigned license plate without vehicle liability insurance. She was released the next day after posting a $1,000 surety bond.
