REPORTED

These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Possession of meth, paraphernalia

A gram of methamphetamine — enough for 40 medicinal doses — five plastic bags, and a scale were reported seized after a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix was stopped at 2:04 a.m. Jan. 16 on US-50 east of Remington Rd.

Monitored transmissions indicate that deputy Joshua Meliza may have misread the vehicle’s license plate initially and thought it was invalid. Meliza later reported by radio that his drug-sniffing dog, Karma, had indicated the possibility of drugs being present, justifying a search of the Pontiac.

Wade A. Wendt, 30, whose address was listed on jail records as Burdick, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bond.

Wendt has an extensive criminal record.

Facing 30 counts of stalking, witness intimidation, and violation of protective orders in two separate cases in 2020, he was convicted of one count of stalking in Lyon County.

In Marion County, he was convicted in 2019 of meth possession; paraphernalia and driving charges were dismissed.

He previously was convicted in Geary County of transmitting obscenity and in Dickinson County of burglary, theft, and criminal damage. Charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon were dismissed in 2010.
