These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Theft

Gasoline valued at $80 was reported stolen at an unspecified time March 13 from Flying Eagle Truck Stop, Florence. The theft was not reported until two weeks afterward, according to deputy Bruce Burke’s report.

Theft

Five hundred gallons of diesel fuel, valued at $2,100, were reported stolen between 7:30 p.m. March 25 and 7:30 a.m. March 26 from a vehicle owned by Sentry Electrical Group of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and parked at US-77 and Broadway St. in Burns.

Domestic battery

Just four days after his release from a weekend jail sentence, Samuel I. Reffett, 40, Hillsboro, was back in jail — albeit briefly — Thursday after he allegedly grabbed the arm and poked the chest of his 42-year-old common-law wife.

The incident occurred between 6:30 and 6:50 p.m. Thursday at the couple’s rental home in the 100 block of N. Jefferson St. Reffett was not home when police arrived. He was apprehended later in the 200 block of N. Washington St.

The victim suffered what officer Peyton Heidebrecht termed apparent minor injuries. The home is owned by Delores Dalke of Hillsboro.

Reffett was released without bond 16 hours after his arrest. Since Jan. 21, 2022, he has been jailed seven times for a total of 43 days. Previous jailings were, among other things, on suspicion of a previous charge of domestic battery and on suspicion of tampering with a required anti-drinking ignition interlock, driving without a required interlock, and driving while his license was canceled, suspended, or revoked.

Possible theft

Amanda Walters, 41, reported at 3 p.m. Friday that her vehicle’s license plate, 909RPU, was missing and possibly stolen from her vehicle Thursday or Friday while it was parked outside her apartment in the 400 block of S. Main St.
