These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Burglary

A chain saw, a generator, 62 hand tools, 60 other hardware items, and $200 cash were stolen between 5:48 and 7 a.m. Christmas Eve from Burns Hardware, 112 E. Main St., Burns.

The items, together valued at $7,115, were recovered later in the day, but deputy Bruce Burke’s report did not indicate how, and no burglary arrests show up on county jail rosters.

Damage estimated at $76 was done during the break-in, according to Burke’s report, released nearly three weeks after the burglary.

HILLSBORO

Possession of amphetamines, paraphernalia

A driver struck in snow at 12:36 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of Arbor Ct. got a ride from Hillsboro police — directly to jail.

Assistant Chief Randy Brazil was notified of a dark-colored vehicle parked for more than half an hour with its lights on.

After checking a gray 2007 Mustang GT and learning that its driver had a record of multiple suspensions, he sent for Marion’s drug-sniffing police dog to check it out. When the dog indicated contraband, a syringe containing a trace amount of amphetamine was discovered inside.

Brian L. Hart, 44, Hillsboro, was arrested on suspicion of possessing amphetamines and drug paraphernalia. His car was towed, and he was booked into county jail. He was released 10 hours later after posting a $5,000 bond.

Drunken driving

A driver of a 2009 vehicle stopped by officer John Huebert for driving too fast for conditions and failing to yield at 2:54 p.m. Jan. 9 in the 100 block of N. Main St.was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol

Kevin L. Hower, 49, Hillsboro, was booked into county jail and released less than 2½ hours later.
