SHERIFF

Criminal damage

An estimated $200 damage was done between 11:30 and 11:35 a.m. Feb. 14 to a mailbox owned by Frank J. Moffitt outside his residence on 230th Rd. between Kanza and Limestone Rds.

HILLSBORO

Rape, aggravated criminal sodomy, aggravated indecent liberties

As reported in a news story last week, William A. Dykens, 36, Hillsboro, was arrested Feb. 12 on suspicion of sexual assault of a child younger than 14. He remained in county jail Tuesday in lieu of a $250,000 bond.

Officer Duane McCarty arrested him after conducting two interviews at police headquarters. The offenses allegedly took place between Jan. 1, 2020, and June 1, 2023.

The victim, earlier taken into protective custody, was someone familiar with the suspect, but under state law and newspaper policy, no further information about her will be released.
