REPORTED

These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

HILLSBORO

Theft

A 24-inch industrial cooling fan placed on top of an air conditioning unit at Pilsen Packrats, 609 Western Heights Circle, was reported stolen between 10 a.m. July 7 and 11 a.m. July 8.

Police attempted to review video from surveillance cameras on nearby businesses for clues in the theft of the fan, valued at $120.

Possession of opioids and drug paraphernalia, other offenses

A cellophane package containing a trace of fentanyl and a metal stem pipe were discovered at 8:34 p.m. July 8 after a sheriff department’s drug-sniffing dog led Officer John Huebert to search a 2008 Toyota Sienna he had stopped at 170th and Indigo Rds. because of arrest warrants against its driver, who also was known to have a suspended license.

Brian W. Hiebert, 28, Florence, was arrested on Marion County, Canton, and Junction City warrants and on suspicion of a second or subsequent offense of driving while his license was suspended as well as suspicion of possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

His vehicle was towed. He remains in lieu of $35,000 in bonds in Marion County Jail, which lists his address as Hillsboro instead of Florence.

Domestic battery, disorderly conduct

Police planned to arrest both a man and a woman involved in an altercation at 2:28 p.m. July 9 at an apartment they shared at Grand Oaks Apartments, 506 W. Grand Ave.

Before taking the woman to jail, however, officer David Funk learned that she had made comments about harming herself, so he instead took her to Hillsboro Community Hospital for a mental evaluation.

Jailed on suspicion of domestic battery and disorderly conduct was Braydon Branom, 20, Hillsboro. He was released 19½ hours later without bond.

Police referred to County Attorney Joel Ensey possible charges against the 21-year-old woman, described in Funk’s report as having suffered an apparent minor injury.

Possession of THC and drug paraphernalia

Two vape pipes containing doses of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, were discovered at 3:45 a.m. Monday after a sheriff department’s drug-sniffing dog led Officer John Huebert to search a vehicle being driven without headlights in the 100 block of N. Ash St.

According to Huebert’s report, the pipes were claimed by a passenger in the vehicle. No arrests were made, but County Attorney Joel Ensey will be asked to review possible charges.
