Possession of stolen property

A 2017 Ford Fiesta, possibly stolen from a Kansas City, Kansas, resident, was recovered at 7:17 p.m. May 27 from a parking area at Calvin J. Hinz’s residence in the 600 block of Wichita Ave. in Lincolnville, according to deputy Austin Spencer’s report, released Friday.

Hinz was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property and was held in lieu of posting a $1,000 bond.

The Ford, valued at $12,000, was listed at being owned by Tamayo J.D. Garcia. Spencer’s report did not explain how it was spotted.

Driving with a suspended license, without liability insurance

Andrew G. Walker, 38, Newton, was arrested at 1:37 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of W. D St. on suspicion of driving without a license, without required vehicle liability insurance, and while his license was canceled, suspended, or revoked.

He was released from jail 11½ hours later after posting a $2,000 bond.

Drug possession, fleeing police, other charged

Thirty doses of methamphetamine, four bottles of apple ale beer, a bottle of Kentucky blended whiskey, and drug paraphernalia were seized after a brief police chase shortly after midnight June 2, according to a report released Monday.

Officer Dustin Woodford attempted to stop a maroon 2001 Chevrolet Silverado for running a stop sign at Main and 3rd Sts., but the pickup proceeded to the suspect’s home in the 200 block of W. Santa Fe St.

Drug-sniffing police dog Blue indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle, which then was searched.

Driver Brian T. Grosse was arrested on suspicion of possessing stimulants and drug paraphernalia, interfering with law enforcement, fleeing or attempting to elude police, transporting an open container of alcohol, having improper vehicle registration, and driving while his license was canceled, suspended, or revoked.

He was booked into Marion County Jail and released 2½ days later after posting a $1,000 bond.
