These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
HILLSBORO
Offender registration, title transfer, and other charges
A traffic stop for an equipment violation at 8:06 p.m. Friday in the 500 block N. Ash St, resulted in the arrest of the driver on multiple charges.
Officer John Huebert arrested Kadian E. Sorter, 20, Hillsboro, on suspicion of violating the state’s offender registration act, driving an unregistered vehicle, illegally transferring a vehicle title, and failing to have vehicle liability insurance.
Sorter was booked into Marion County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of posting a $5,000 bond.
Marijuana possession, traffic charges
A traffic stop at 4:33 a.m. Saturday for failing to use a turn signal at US-56 and Ash St. resulted in seizure of 10.6 grams of marijuana, enough for 33 “joints.”
Also seized by officer John Huebert were rolling papers and a lighter.
Huebert arrested driver Jimmere F. Mills, 33, Hemmingway, South Carolina, on suspicion of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving while his license was suspended, and failing to register a trailer.
Mills was booked into Marion County Jail and released 10½ hours later after posting a $3,000 bond.
Marijuana possession, drunken driving
Officer John Huebert arrested a driver and a passenger on suspicion of marijuana and paraphernalia charges after stopping their car for speeding at 11:33 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of S. Ash St.
Driver Cindy M. Kahns, 43, Hillsboro, also was accused of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and of transporting an open container of alcohol.
She and passenger Michelle L. Hammer, 48, Hillsboro, were booked into Marion County Jail. Both were released 10 hours later after posting $2,000 bonds.
A garbled offense report released by police indicated seizure of an unspecified amount of marijuana and a pipe.
MARION
Meth distribution, other drug charges
A traffic stop for an equipment violation at 11:34 p.m. Friday on US-56 near Cedar St. resulted in seizure of 2.91 ounces of methamphetamine, enough for as many as 235 doses of the stimulant.
Also seized were a clear, bulbous pipe, a syringe, and cutoff straws.
Assistant chief Dustin Woodford arrested the driver, 63-year-old Michael Haden of Clay Center, on suspicion of distribution of methamphetamine, possession of drug manufacturing paraphernalia, having no drug tax stamp, and driving with a defective taillight and without liability insurance.
Haden was taken to Marion County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of posting a $20,000 bond.
