SHERIFF

Theft

A log splitter valued at $2,000 was reported stolen between 2 p.m. Oct. 16 and 6 p.m. Oct. 20 by someone who broke into a building at Leonard G. Ellis’ residence in the 500 block of Barker St. in Florence.

MARION

Interfering with police, other charges

Stopped for allegedly speeding at 10:10 p.m. Sunday on US-56 near Cedar St., Javier Gomez, 30, Abilene, Texas, was arrested on an unspecified warrant and on suspicion of speeding and interfering with law enforcement.

He was taken to Marion County Jail and held in lieu of posting $5,000 in bonds.
