One hurt when pickups collide
Staff writer
A Utah woman pulling a stock trailer east on US-50 Thursday crashed her pickup into the driver’s side door of an eastbound pickup turning north onto Old Mill Rd. ahead of her.
The turning pickup, a 2001 Ford F-150 driven by Porter Robinson, 21, Newton, came to rest in a ditch northeast of Old Mill Rd. and US-50.
The pickup pulling the stock trailer came to rest on the south shoulder about 200 feet from Old Mill Rd.
Undersheriff Larry Starkey said Jacklyn Frost, 20, Randlett, Utah, the driver of a 2024 Ford F-350 pulling the stock trailer, and passenger Jenna M. Fulton, 22, St. Lawrence, South Dakota, the owner of the pickup Frost was driving, did not report injury.
Robinson was taken to Newton Medical Center for treatment of possible injuries.
Robinson’s passenger, Curtis Findley, 17, also a Newton resident, did not report injury.
Both pickups were towed.
Starkey said three horses in the stock trailer were not injured. A friend of Frost living in Potwin picked up the horses.
Deputy Jesse Raney’s report blamed the wreck on Frost’s failure to yield, but no tickets were issued.
