Organ donor’s life not in vain

Accident victim Dwayne Moenning, 17, succumbed to his injuries Thursday after being seriously hurt in a traffic accident Dec. 3.

After extensive testing Dec. 13, it was determined that Dwayne’s brain activity had stopped, and he was taken off life support. His family said he had indicated he wanted to be an organ donor.

Two busloads of students and staff from Centre plus several community members in private vehicles traveled to Wesley Medical Center to participate in an honor walk Thursday afternoon. They accompanied the body as it was taken out of the hospital to be transported to Kansas City.

Centre ag teacher Emma Jacobson was in the group. She said she was proud to be associated with a school district and community that cared so much about each of its students. Moenning was an active member of Centre FFA.
