P.E.O. hears report from delegate to convention

P.E.O. members received new program books for the 2019-2020 year at the Aug. 19 meeting at Dorothy’s Coffee and Tea House.

The first meeting of the new year was Sept. 16 at Harvey House Museum in Florence. Myrta Billings and Marge Summervill were hostesses.

Emily Kannady gave a report on her recent attendance as a delegate to the 150th International Convention of the P.E.0. Sisterhood in Des Moines, Iowa. Diana Costello and Debbi Darrow accompanied her.

Judy Mills, dressed in Harvey Girl attire, gave a program on the food service begun by Fred Harvey along the Santa Fe Railroad. She said Harvey Girls played an integral part in providing good food and fast service.

The chapter plans to participate in the upcoming Mingle and Jingle event and Alternative Gift Market in Marion in November. It also is seeking applicants for the Star Scholarship Award it is sponsoring.

The next program will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 7 at Eastmoor United Methodist church. Susan Robson and Mary Gill will be hostesses. Judy Christensen will give a program on wreath making.
