Palic takes second at Hoisington
The Marion High School wrestling team picked up an 11th-place finish Friday, competing at the Hoisington Cardinal Classic.
Of the 12 competing schools, Marion finished with 28½ points with four of its five competitors earning medals.
Beloit was the tournament champion, easily beating the hosting Cardinals, 171-137.
Marion’s sixth-ranked sophomore, Todd Palic, finished 4-1, his lone loss coming in the title match against Cimarron’s fourth-ranked Dylan Newton.
Charlie Nordquist suffered through a subpar day, going 3-2 for fifth place.
Forest Slater, and Luke Lanning each finished sixth with Slater going 3-3, and Lanning 2-3.
Sophomore Will Alleven finished seventh, posting a 3-3 finish.
Alleven improved Saturday, going 3-1 at Marion’s junior varsity tournament, where he took third as the Warriors’ sole competitor.
Up next for the Warriors is a Friday tournament at Onaga.
