Residents needing another place for breakfast or lunch have another option.
Until last week, Parlour 1886, inside the Historic Elgin Hotel, had offered only dinners and Sunday brunch.
Now, however, the restaurant is serving breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and dinner 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday in addition to Sunday brunch from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m..
The restaurant also is opening an hour earlier than before for dinner.
Owner Alicia Pena said the restaurant tried to include breakfast and lunch once before.
“We tried it for a month, but we did not give it enough time,” Pena said.
The new hours are not going to change, even after the holidays, she said. The increased hours and two extra meals are what the community wants.
“A lot of locals were asking for breakfast or lunch,” Pena said. “They want another option.”
Hotel guests no longer will have to look for another place to eat before dinner, she said.
When the word gets out Parlour 1886 is open for all three meals, Pena hopes more people will come,.
The new hours and meals started with little fanfane Nov. 25, but the restaurant has been pretty busy even with Thanksgiving in the mix.
Customers can order wine and cocktails during their happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m., when beer and wine are sold at half price, Pena said.
Customers who come to the restaurant for happy hour often stay to eat dinner, she said.
In the winter months, Pena said, Parlour 1886 customers often order online and pick up food curbside to allow them to stay warm inside their cars.
