Peabody cleanup set for Saturday

News editor

It’s time for fall cleaning, getting rid of the stuff you’ve not used and been storing all year.

Waste Connections will make one pass through town Saturday to pick up waste from Peabody sidewalks.

Items accepted include general trash, furniture, appliances without Freon, televisions, computers, patio grills and furniture, lawn mowers and trimmers, free of gas and oil, and 3-foot-length bundles of tree limbs and branches.

All items must be bagged, boxed, bundled, and placed at the curb by Friday evening.

For items not allowed in landfills, the household hazardous waste mobile collection unit, sponsored by Marion County transfer station, will be accepting waste from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at 1st and Vine Sts.

Items include paint, waste oil, herbicides, pesticides, antifreeze, car batteries, acids, ammonias, and aerosol cans.

The unit will not accept used cooking oil, ammunition or explosives, alkaline batteries, and medical waste such as needles.

For more information, contact the city office at (620) 983-2174.
