Peabody Dreamers launch tailgate cook off

To herald a new football season, a fundraiser tailgate cook off sponsored by Peabody Dreamers will be Aug. 27 at Santa Fe Park.

All entries will have a 10-foot-by-10-foot area. Categories will include beef, chicken, and pork, but no ground meats.

Only basic charcoal backyard grills may be used. No electric, propane, or commercial grade smokers will be allowed.

A minimum of 30 sample size portions is required for community involvement, with entry levels of single for $35, two for $60, or three for $85, and people’s choice for $15 per entry.

Meat inspection will begin at 5:30 a.m., and grills may be lighted at 6 a.m. Samples will be collected at noon.
