Hillsboro softball under way

This year’s Hillsboro softball season opened Tuesday with a doubleheader against Haven at Hillsboro, but the game could not be finished because of rain.

The game was postponed after the third inning with a score of Haven 11, Hillsboro 0.

The team has a roster of 23 players.

The team’s infield lineup consists of Anslee Brewer, pitcher Faith Cummings, Ryleigh Petersen, Delaney Lucero, Kirsten Kluver, Skylre Stucky, Kori Arnold, Jaylin Latham, Skylar Voran, Shia Harris, and Trysta Miller.

Outfield players are Natalie Fowler, Jerusalem Driggers, Jenna Friesen, Keeley Brewer, Hailey Miller, Cassidy Bernhardt, Reese Hefley, Autumn Eldridge, Rayna Johnson, and Maria Pohlmann.

Keitra Edwards and Ariana Seaman are utility players.

In her first year as the team’s head coach is Alyssa Kroeker.

Assistant coaches are Wendy Funk and Rustyn Kerbs.

With one game under their belts, the girls will next face Smoky Valley Monday at Lindsborg.

After that, the team will travel April 8 to Halstead.

The regular season will wrap up with a May 10 match at Hesston.

Regional playoffs will be May 16 through 19 at a location yet to be announced.

State tournament will be May 26 and 27 at Kansas State University.
