Peabody City Council promoted its city clerk Monday night.
Without much discussion, council members made Paul Leeker city clerk / administrator at a salary of $65,000.
The city was working without an administrator. Leeker, without the title, was filling the role.
Incoming Mayor Kevin Burke said the city needed an administrator.
“Mr. Leeker’s educational background and career experiences make him an excellent person for the position,” Burke said. “His forte in local government is an extremely strong asset for the city of Peabody.
“As mayor,-elect I’m looking forward to working with Mr. Leeker for the future of Peabody.”
