Pedersen, Goentzel win races at lake

Goentzel sets middle school record

Marion Middle School had a great showing Thursday at its home cross country meet, placing six runners in the top-10 in the girls’ and boys’ races.

Eighth grader Elizabeth Goentzel set the girls’ school record with a two-mile time of 15 minutes, 21 seconds.

She finished first as the only Wildcat in the girls’ race.

Austin Pedersen won the boys’ race with a time of 12:43.

Clark Kroupa took second, Aaron Molleker fourth, James Svoboda sixth, Jacob Cope seventh, and Nicholas Davies finished 12th.

The Wildcats will be in action Thursday at Halstead, and will race Oct. 9 for the final time this season at Chapman.
