PEO discusses Marion Alternative Gift Market

The regular business meeting of PEO chapter DB was at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at the home of Judy Powers.

Marlene Utech served as co-hostess with Powers. In keeping with the theme of “Fall Flavors and Coffee,” apple and pumpkin desserts, cider, and coffee were served to the 25 members attending.

Finance committee members Powers and Judy Reno reported on plans to participate in the alternative gift market on Nov. 9. Members will offer handmade star ornaments in exchange for donations to Chapter DB’s scholarship fund to benefit a local high school senior.

Laura McFall and Executive Director Tony Princ of Market Relations in Wichita presented an informational program on the origins and operations of the alternative gift market.

Jackie Volbrecht of Chapter DB developed the Marion alternative gift market based on the Wichita market.

Chapter DB’s next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Harvey House in Florence. Laura Williams and Betty Williams will serve as co-hostesses and president of the historical society Judy Mills will present the program.
