Two physicians have been contracted to provide medical care at St. Luke Physician Clinic with physician assistant Nita Bittle.
Dr. Melanie Byram has treated Marion patients in the past. She will be in the clinic 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, and will be on call Wednesday evenings in the hospital emergency room. She practices in Council Grove and Manhattan.
Dr. Gayla Herbel, an endocrinologist at Newton Medical Center, will see patients 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, and will be on call in the hospital emergency room Thursday evenings.
Physician Linda Skiles resigned a few months ago and no longer practices in the clinic.
“Recruitment continues for a permanent replacement,” St. Luke Hospital Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Armstrong said.
A recruitment firm will assist the hospital in finding a physician.
“We are committed to finding a permanent, full-time physician,” Armstrong said, “and hope to do this in less than 12 months.”
