Peggi Wilson did not know how adventurous her life would become when she rescued a mutt named Romy a little over a year ago.
Last week Wilson let Romy outside at her Marion County Lake home.
“Within five minutes he showed back up with a stuffed animal, complete with price tags still attached,” she said.
Wilson has no idea where Romy found the toy and was surprised he didn’t chew it up.
The toy, a character from Disney’s “A Bug’s Life,” is shown to be worth $9.99. Wilson asked her neighbors and people camping around the lake if it was theirs, but could not found the owner.
Wilson, whose family already had two Italian greyhounds, adopted Romy after his owners threatened to drown him. Originally she planned to keep him only while she sought another home for him but after a few days decided to make Romy a permanent part of the family.
“He is such a fun guy and is very mischievous, but we love him to pieces,” Wilson said.
