Plenty caught at lake tourney

Eight teams of fishermen turned up at 6 a.m. Saturday to compete at Marion County Lake’s first ever crappie tournament.

Temperatures in the 90s ended competition at noon, not 2 p.m. as planned, but a lot of fish still were caught, lake supervisor Isaac Hett said.

Jason Montague, Lane Peterson and Jimmy Stout tied for first place and won $200. The team caught its limit of five crappie which weighed total of 5 pounds and 2 ounces. The biggest crappie was 1 pound 4 ounces.

Other competitors were: C.J, Stucky, Cody McKee and Ben Sigel, Mike Voit, Steve Reichard, Russ Cain and Rusty Stenseng.
