Activity reports

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

April 20 – Trespassing was reported on the west side of town. Motorists were warned for speeding in the 800 block of E. D St., for no headlights, and for illegal auxiliary lighting.

April 21 – Assistance was provided with a child custody issue. Suspicious activity reported at Midway Motors ended up being an employee showing a car to a customer.

April 22 – A suspicious vehicle was reported near a school. A civil standby was provided in the 300 block of S. Ash St. A vehicle blocking a private drive was reported in the 600 block of S. Lincoln St.

Friday – A motorist was stopped for illegal use of a dealer tag, no trailer registration, and possession of stolen property, and a report was sent to Marion County Attorney’s office. A loose dog was reported in the 100 block of S. Cedar St. A driving complaint was reported on 190th Rd. near Jade Rd.

Saturday – An injured skunk was reported at D and Wilson Sts. A domestic issue was reported in the 400 block of E. 1st St., but police action was not needed. Motorists were warned for trailer lights not working at B and Ash Sts., and for windshield obstruction at D and Ash Sts.

Sunday – A rabid squirrel was reported in the 100 block of N. Lincoln but nothing was found. A motorist was stopped for speeding and no proof of insurance, and a report was sent to Marion County Attorney’s office.

Marion

April 20 – A possible neglected dog was reported in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. The dog was checked on and had food, water, and shelter. Trespassing was reported in the 400 block of S. 4th St. A lost wallet was reported near Dollar General. A trespassing complaint was reported in the 700 block of S. Cedar St. A complaint of a business providing non-essential services was reported and referred to Marion County Health Department.

April 21 – Teenagers were warned for riding dirt bikes in town on Burbridge St. Suspicious persons were reported in the 400 block of N. Lincoln St. Assistance was provided with a civil issue in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St.

April 22 – An abandoned car was reported in the roadway of the 800 block of E. Main St. The vehicle had come out of gear and rolled from its driveway. A 911 disconnect was reported in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St. A scam attempt was reported in the 500 block of S. Freeborn St. A motorist was warned for white light to the rear near Main and Cedar Sts.

Thursday – A noise complaint was reported.

Friday – A lost dog was reported.

Saturday – A debit card was found and returned to its owner. Social media threats were reported in the 300 block of Grant St. A person was warned for blowing grass into the road in the 400 block of Santa Fe St.

Sunday – Two loose dogs were reported in the 100 block of N. Freeborn St. and returned home. Officers received a report of third-party threats from the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. No report was taken.

April 20 – A health and safety investigation was opened in the 200 block of N. Sycamore St.

Thursday – Suspicious activity was reported.

Sunday – A dog-owner received a citation for a dog-bite incident in the 400 block of N. Sycamore St.
