Activity reports

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

May 19 – Police checked on the welfare of a resident of 300 block of S. Adams St. A bicycle was reported missing.

Thursday – Suspicious activity was reported in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St. but nothing was found.

Friday – A verbal dispute in the 500 block of E. D St. was investigated. A possible theft ended up being a civil matter. A prowler was reported in the 300 block of N. Main St.

Saturday – A motorist returned to pay for gas at Ampride after a drive-off was reported. What was reported as a break-in attempt in the 900 block of E. D St. proved to be someone knocking at a door. A camper hookup was provided at Memorial Park. Suspicious activity was reported downtown.

Sunday – A vehicle was reported missing from the 900 block of E. D St.

Marion

May 18 – Children were warned for riding bicycles in traffic in the 100 block of N. 3rd St. A car hit a mailbox in the 500 block of N. Cedar St. Multiple automated alarms in the 300 block of S. 3rd St. proved to be false. A motorist was warned for no headlights in the 600 block of E. Main St.

May 19 – Assistance in getting fuel at Marion airport was provided.

May 20 – A parking complaint was made in the 1100 block of Highland St. Three motorists were warned for having no headlights.

Thursday – Officers answered questions about the legality of BB guns in Marion.

Friday – A commercial alarm in the 1200 block of E. Main St. proved to be false. Loose dogs reported in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. were returned to their owner. A parking complaint was made in the 900 block of E. Main St. A motorist was warned for having no tag light near US-56 and Upland Rd. A report of threats in the 500 block of S. Freeborn St. proved unfounded.

Saturday – A person was warned for blowing grass clippings onto the street in the 800 block of Hudson St. A bicyclist received a ride home after his bicycle had a mechanical issue. Children were warned for riding ATVs on Santa Fe St.

Sunday – A loose dog was located at large in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. and returned to its owner. ATVs were reported on the city’s flood control project but no one was found.

May 19 – A health and safety investigation was opened in the 400 block of N. Plum St. for rundown items in a yard there.

Monday – A stalking violation was reported in the 800 block of N. Chestnut St.
