Activity reports

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

Aug. 31 — A complaint was made of someone tampering with an electric meter. No damage was found by police. Complaint was made of a cracked vehicle window in the 200 block of S. Kennedy St., but police found no evidence of criminal activity. Report of a burglary was made in the 100 block of N. Cedar St. Report was made of a burglary in the 300 block of N. Washington St. Officers investigated a suspicious package in the 400 block of S. Floral Dr. A noise complaint was made at Sonic, but the children involved left before police arrived.

Sept. 1 — A dog owner caught his or her dog that was running free in the 200 block of N. Adams St. A complaint was made of a skunk in the 200 block of E. 1st St., but the animal escaped into nearby brush. A report was made of a baby locked in a vehicle at Dollar General. A locksmith was called to open the vehicle. The baby appeared to be unharmed. Officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant but could not find the suspect. A locksmith was called to help with a person locked out of his or her house.

Sept. 2 — A complaint was made of barking dogs in the 200 block of E. C St. Police answered questions about security issues at a church. A disturbance complaint was made about an adult and juvenile arguing in the 100 block of E. 1st St. A parking complaint was made in the 600 block of E. C St. Two motorists were warned for improper parking at C and Adams Sts. A motorist was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign in the 300 block of S. Ash St. Motorists were warned for having improper lights and for failing to dim lights. A motorist was cited for not having a driver’s license and warned for malfunctioning lights. Tabor College students were warned for being at Hillsboro Municipal Golf Course after it closed. A Hillsboro woman was arrested after a traffic stop because officers thought she had a suspended license. Molly B. Schoefield was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license.

Thursday — A dog owner was warned about having dogs running free in the 200 block of S. Ash St. A motorist was warned for failing to stop at a stop sign. A complaint was made of a dog running free in the 100 block of E. Grand Ave. The dog could not be found. A complaint was made of a landscaping crew leaving supplies at a property in the 400 block of Arbor Ct., but police decided it was a civil matter. A person received assistance with a camper hookup at Memorial Park. Motorists were cited for speeding in the 1000 block of S. Ash St., and failing to stop at a stop sign at Adams and D Sts. Motorists were warned for improper parking at C and Adams Sts., and for not using a turn signal on US-56.

Friday — Report was made of a Hillsboro pickup truck missing from the city’s water plant. It was found at Hillsboro City Shop where it had been moved by an employee. A parking complaint was made in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of N. Jefferson St. A motorist was warned for speeding. Report was made of possible child abuse in the 100 block of N. Main St. A complaint made of abuse at Hillsboro Community Hospital proved to be unfounded. Police investigated suspicious activity by some storage units, which ended up being a dog owner letting his dog exercise. Police assisted a motorist who ran out of gas on 190th Rd.

Saturday — A complaint was made of an online scam. A motorist on US-56 was cited for driving while suspended a and warned for taillight issues. Another motorist was warned for having improper taillights on US-56.

Aug. 31 — A report was made of a person riding with a child on a mower,, but police determined no crime had occurred.

Sept. 1 — A Marion motorist on S. Commercial Dr. was arrested after a traffic stop for having a cracked windshield and no headlights. Dr. Cyle L. Wilson, 27, was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, driving against restrictions, and not having liability insurance. A motorist was cited for having an illegal vehicle tag near 4th and Main Sts. A juvenile was warned for being in Central Park after it was closed.

Sept. 2 — A motorist was warned for speeding near 3rd and Main Sts. Report was made of a possible protection order violation. A person was warned for mowing grass into the roadway in the 700 block of N. Cedar St., and a motorist was warned for not having tail lights.

Thursday — A motorist was warned for speeding near 3rd and Main Sts. Report of a possible protection order violation was made. A motorist was cited for driving against restrictions in the 100 block of N. Cedar St.

Friday — A complaint was made of a dog running free in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. The dog owner was contacted and picked up the dog. Cyle Wilson was arrested after being identified as having an outstanding arrest warrant. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, and on five outstanding warrants. Officers investigated a non-injury accident at Cedar and Lawrence Sts. Three bicyclists were warned for not having headlights after dark.

Saturday — Police responded to a false alarm at Casey’s General Store. Officers corralled loose pigs in the 700 block of N. Cedar St. and cited their owner for having a prohibited animal in town.

Sunday — Report was made of a pig from the night before again being loose. Police could not catch the animal or locate the owner. Police responded to a false alarm at a residence in the 500 block of N. Coble St.

Peabody

Aug. 31 — Report was made of a protection from abuse violation.

Sept. 2 — Police investigated reports of financial and physical abuse of a dependent adult. The case remains under investigation.

Saturday — An information report was made of a sexual battery in the 400 block of N. Locust St.
