Activity reports

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

Sept. 14 — A complaint was made of suspicious activity. A motorist was warned for speeding in the 400 block of S. Main St. A dog-owner was contacted about a dog running free near Hillsboro Elementary School. A report was made of suspicious activity near Trinity Church, but officers found nothing suspicious.

Sept. 15 — A complaint was made of suspicious activity at Birchwood Apartments.

Sept. 16 — A motorist was warned for having a damaged windshield and allowing someone to ride on the vehicle’s tailgate. A motorist was warned for speeding in the 600 block of W. D St. A dog running free was picked up in the 600 block of W. Grand Ave.

Thursday — A motorist was warned for having illegal window tint. A complaint was made about a motorist driving through an alley. Officers responded to a false alarm at Dollar General.

Friday — A report was made of identity theft. Illegal drugs were found in a vehicle during a traffic stop for having improper registration. Charges are pending.

Saturday — A report was made of a sign being stolen in the 300 block of N. Adams St. A complaint was made about obscene phone calls to Parkside Homes.

Sunday — A dog owner was warned about a dog running free in the 100 block of N. Birch St. Report was made of smoke in the 100 block of S. Main St., which proved to be a business owner doing work.

Sept. 14 — Police transported a person from St. Luke Hospital to Prairie View in Hillsboro for a mental health evaluation. An attempted phone scam was reported. A domestic disturbance was reported in the 400 block of S. 4th St., but the person involved left before police arrived.

Sept. 15 — A found bicycle was turned over to police. A report of a possibly suicidal person in the 300 block of N. Freeborn St. proved unfounded. A Marion woman wanted on outstanding warrants was arrested after a traffic stop near Main and Roosevelt St. Syringes and methamphetamine residue were found in her vehicle. A canine unit was used to conduct a search of the vehicle and find the illegal items. Natalie Geren, 38, Marion, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and on outstanding warrants.

Sept. 16 — A report of suspicious activity in the 900 block of Melvin St. proved unfounded.

Thursday — Officers spoke to a person about a parking complaint.

Friday — A complaint was made of a barking dog in the 100 block of S. Roosevelt St. A resident was warned for having a rooster inside city limits in the 200 block of S. Roosevelt St. A dog running free in the 100 block of N. Freeborn St. was taken to Animal Health Center. A hit-and-run accident was reported after a vehicle hit a gas meter near Roosevelt St.

Saturday — Police met with a motorist whose dome light was on but determined nothing was wrong. An abandoned vehicle was checked in the 1000 block of N. Cedar St. A motorist was warned for not having a tag light near Main and 3rd Sts. A Marion man was arrested after police executed a search warrant and found 12 marijuana plants, a bag of fertilizer, and a syringe. Bryan Grosse, 39, Marion was arrested on suspicion of cultivating a controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Peabody

Sept. 14 — An attempted Internet scam was reported.

Sept. 16 — Dustin Glenn, 35, Peabody, was arrested in the 200 block of N. Walnut St. on suspicion of public intoxication.

Thursday — Police took a report of battery in the 200 block of N. Walnut St. An offense report is pending.

Friday — A non-injury accident was reported at Peabody-Burns High School parking lot. An accident report is pending.
