Feb. 1 — Officers investigated a dispute between a landlord and tenant in the 300 block of N. Washington St. Police responded to a report of an attempted Social Security scam. Officers assisted Department for Children and Families and Herington Police Department with investigations. Police investigated an abandoned vehicle in the 300 block of S. Ash St. and a property dispute in the 300 block of N. Ash St. Officers returned property to a Marion resident and assisted a motorist in the 500 block of S. Ash St.

Feb. 2 — Officers did a welfare check in the 100 block of Industrial Rd. and assisted DCF with an investigation.

Feb. 3 — Police investigated a complaint about a dog in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. Officers assisted DCF and met with Peabody police officers about an investigation. Police checked out a report of a suspicious person in the 400 block of N. Ash St.

Feb. 4 — Police assisted McPherson County sheriff’s office with a suicidal person and helped Marion County sheriff’s office with an investigation. A resident reported unemployment fraud.

Friday — Police investigated a gas skip in the 500 block of E. D St. and took a report from a resident who said someone placed several suspicious items in the bed of his truck.

Saturday — Police took a report from a resident who said they were threatened by phone. Officers investigated a gas skip in the 500 block of E. D St. Officers took dog complaints in the 500 block of S Main. St. and the 200 block of N. Washington Sts. Police did a welfare check in the 400 block of S Main St.

Marion

Feb. 1 — Officers checked on someone whose vehicle broke down. Police contacted the guardian of a child reported near the road in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. The owner of two dogs reported running loose was contacted. Officers talked to a dog owner in the 300 block of N. Roosevelt St. about the dog barking at night.

Feb. 2 — Police found a dog running loose and contacted the owner, who retrieved it. A warning was issued for no tag light during a traffic stop on US-56 near Upland Rd. Police checked out an alarm in the 1000 block of Industrial Rd. and the building was secure. Police gave a warning to a driver going over the speed limit on US-56 near Ridge Rd.

Feb. 3 — Officers met with someone about a possible identity theft. Police investigated a report of an unwanted person in the 500 block of S. Roosevelt St. Police took a complaint about the condition of a fence.

Feb. 4 — A dog was reported running loose in the 300 block of N. Roosevelt St., but the animal was not found. Officer Zach Hudlin responded to a report of a person who refused to leave a residence in the 1200 block of E. Main St., after being asked to do so by the property owner and police. Hudlin arrested Brittnee Nichole Smith, 28, Newton, on suspicion of criminal trespass and criminal threat.

Friday — Police investigated a report of suspicious activity in the 100 block of E. Main St., and advised several people to stay out from between buildings. Officers checked on someone walking in the cold. The man refused to speak to officers who got him a hotel room. A driver was issued a warning for a burned out headlight during a traffic stop near Main and Vine Sts.

Saturday — Police checked on someone walking in the cold, who said he was OK. A driver was warned for no turn signal during a traffic stop in the 800 block of N. Cedar St. Officers met with the owner of an illegally parked vehicle in the 200 block of N. Roosevelt St.
