Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.
July 5 — Police took a delayed complaint about a dog bite in the 400 block of E. 1st St. and a complaint about a stray dog in the 100 block of E. D St.
A burglar alarm in the 600 block of N. Ash St. provide to be a false alarm.
July 6 — A pungent odor from a property south of Hillsboro on Indigo Rd. turned out to be dead chickens in trash.
Police checked on the welfare of a restident in the 500 block of E. 1st St. and looked into a civil complaint in the 400 block of S. Cedar St.
July 7 — A motorist was warned for not having lights in the 700 block of E. D St. Complaints about missing property in the 400 block N. Adams St. and trespassing and a civil matter in the 400 block of S. Cedar St. were investigated.
Thursday — A noise complaint in the 400 block of N. Ash St. was investigated.
Friday — What were reported as possible trespassers in the 500 block of S. Washington St. turned out to be a county employee making a tax appraisal.
Police were called to city hall after residents became upset they had to pay an outstanding bill before reconnecting utilities.
No report was created after a minor accident in Dale’s Supermarket’s parking lot. A report about a non-injury accident in the Ampride parking lot is pending.
A motorist on US-56 was warned for speeding. Police answered a residents’ questions about getting seized property back. Vandalism was reported in the 100 block of N. Main St.
Saturday — A mailbox was damaged after a vehicle was towed following a traffic stop. A report on the incident is pending.
Police investigated reported trespassing and a civil complaint in the 500 block S. Washington St.
They were unable to locate a noisy vehicle reported at Wilson and A Sts. or a vehicle that reportedly hit an animal.
Sunday — A report about a hit-and-run accident at Wilson and A Sts. is pending.
Police checked on the welfare of a child in the 200 block of S. Madison St.
July 6 — Damage reported as possible vandalism in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. turned out to be caused by weather. No action was taken after a disturbance later was reported in that same block.
No offense report was created after police were alerted by a resident of the 1500 block of Victory Lane to a possible scam.
Police checked on the welfare of a resident in the 1500 block of E. Main St.
July 7 — A snake was removed from a parking lot in the 1200 block of E. Main St., and a dog running free near Coble and Lawrence Sts. was returned to its owner.
A person reportedly walking along the old channel of the Cottonwood River between 1st and 3rd Sts. was not found. Police did find the owner of a drone that had been flown in the 600 block of N. Cedar St. but determined that no law had been broken.
A gas leak in the 200 block of S. Roosevelt St. was investigated, and a motorist was cited for going 41 mph in a 30-mph zone at US-56 and Cedar St.
Thursday — Routine matters only.
Friday — A theft was reported in the 100 block of S. 2nd St., the same block where a commercial alarm also sounded and where two days earlier a suspicious pedestrian had been reported.
No action again was taken after a disturbance was reported in 400 block of S. 4th St.
A motorist was warned for an equipment violation, and an order of protection was discussed.
Saturday — Possible violation of a protection order was reported in the 100 block of N. Thorp St. A dog reported to be running free in the 1200 block of Nickerson St. was not found. Three motorists were warned for equipment violations.
Kenney C. Jost, 54, Lovington, New Mexico, was arrested in the 700 block of S. Cedar St. on a warrant alleging that he failed to appear in court.
Sunday — A sick cat was reported in the 100 block of N. Lincoln St., and an officer checked on visitors to Central Park.
