ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

HILLSBORO

July 12 — A burglar alarm in the 500 block of S. Washington St. accidentally was activated by a service worker. Police found no problem after checking a report of a child screaming in the 500 block of E. D St.

July 13 — Evidence obtained earlier was returned to its owner. A dog complaint in the 500 block of N. Ash St. was investigated.

July 14 — A suspicious vehicle in the 400 block of S. Birch St. was thought to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident. Police checked on the welfare of a resident in the 400 block of N. Ash St. They also looked into a report of a missing person from Wichita and checked on a disconnected 911 call from the sports complex.

Thursday — Suspicious activity in the 200 block of N. Main St. and a dog complaint in the 100 block of S. Cedar St. were investigated.

Friday — Training and traffic control only.

Saturday — Vandalism in the 200 block of S. Main St. was investigated.

Sunday — A domestic disturbance in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. proved to be verbal only.

MARION

July 12 — Police were told multiple bags of trash were left outside the county transfer station after hours. A motorist was warned for having red and blue lights on the front of a vehicle. The driver of a golf cart was warned that a permit is required to operate golf carts on city streets.

July 13 — Two juveniles were told not to throw firecrackers in Central Park. A report of theft was deemed to be a civil matter. A dog running free was returned to its pen. A motorist was cited for driving 33 mph in a 20-mph zone at Main and 5th Sts. A possibly suicidal person was not found.

July 14 — A fight in the 100 block of Eastmoor Dr. continues to be under investigation and will be referred to a prosecutor. A person reported as being suicidal was found and determined not to be in danger. A motorist was warned for speeding. A second motorist was warned for failing to yield. Police couldn’t catch a dog running free in the 400 block of S. Cedar St. Police interceded with juveniles in Central Park after curfew.

Thursday — A motorist was warned for speeding. Police checked the welfare of a resident in the 100 block of N. Cedar St. and, in a separate matter, discussed eviction procedures.

Friday — A report of theft continues to be under investigation. In a separate incident, no evidence of broken glass could be found, and neighbors reported not hearing or seeing anything after a break-in was reported in the 400 block of S. Cedar St.

No report was made about an accident near Washington and Vine St., apparently because it resulted in no damage. A man whom police saw fall in the 400 block of E. Main St. declined medical help. A dog running free was returned to its owned.

An equipment problem resulted in smoke coming from the wheels of a camper. A parking ticket was issued near 2nd and Miller Sts., a parking complaint was investigated in the 600 block of E. Main St., and a motorist was warned for having no tail light

Saturday — A motorist was warned for having a defective tail light. A child custody matter was discussed. A disconnected 911 call in the 200 block of N. Roosevelt St. was investigated. Police donated to a car wash raising money for a man injured in a sport terrain vehicle accident July 4.

Sunday — Two more disconnected 911 calls from the same block were investigated. A motorist was warned for having no trailer lights. Officers helped a turtle cross the road in the 500 block of E. Main St.
