ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

HILLSBORO

Sept. 6 — A fire reported at a pavilion in Memorial Park turned out to be a cookout, with no damage reported. Police completed a courtesy report of an accident on private property.

Sept. 7 — A window was broken and walls were spray-painted inside a vacant residence in the 300 block of W. Grand Ave. The case, suspected to involve juveniles, remains under investigation.

Two drivers were warned for equipment violations. One was cited for speeding in the 300 block of N. Ash St. Police warned drivers about illegal parking in the 300 and 400 blocks of S. Lincoln St.

Investigation of illegal discharge of fireworks by students on the Tabor College campus was turned over to the college for follow-up.

Sept. 8 — A backpack found abandoned at a local business proved to present no concerns. Police issued a warning about illegal riding on a motor vehicle.

Thursday — Thieves who stole two 30-packs of beer and exited Dollar General through a rear fire escape were recorded on video. The case remains under investigation.

A Honda four-wheeler abandoned on the north side of Hillsboro Ford was removed to the police department. A dog running free was returned to its owner’s residence.

Friday — A driver was warned for making an illegal U-turn on D St. Another was warned for an equipment violation. Warnings about illegal parking in the 500 block of E. C St. and the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. also were issued.

A dog running free in 200 block of N. Washington St. was returned to its owner.

Saturday — Police helped Tabor College employees dismiss a student from campus. They also investigated the abandonment in Canton of a vehicle owned by a Hillsboro resident. An underage driver was ticketed in the 500 block of A St.

Sunday — Three Tabor College football players were arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a 3:34 a.m. traffic stop in the 400 block of E. D St.

Citations for speeding and having no insurance were issued in the 600 block of S. Ash St. Police helped a towing company with release of vehicle and a citizen concerned about a Snap Chat account.

MARION

Sept. 6 — A driver was ticketed for going 81 mph in a 65-mph zone. Police checked on the welfare check of a resident in the 200 block of Tanglewood St.

Sept. 7 — Crosswalk signs were installed downtown, and police talked to a resident about a potential scam.

Sept. 8 — A driver was ticketed for going 40 mph in a 30-mph zone. Two others were warned for speeding. A noise complaint in the 500 block of Walnut St, and a report of a suspicious person in the 100 block of N. 3rd St. also were investigated.

Thursday — Drivers were warned for speeding and equipment violations in five separate traffic stops.

Friday — A driver was ticketed for going 32 mph in a 20-mph zone. A second driver was warned about speeding.

Saturday — No arrests were made after a Dickinson County search warrant was executed in the 400 block of S. 4th St. Police helped a person trying to find a wallet and contacted a business about an unlocked gate. The owner of a dog running free in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. was contacted.

Sunday — No reportable activity.
