ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of activities this past week. Routine patrols, inspections, training, , and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

HILLSBORO

Sept. 27 — Vandalism at a shelter house in Memorial Park was investigated. A dog owner was cited for allowing dogs to run loose. A trespasser reported in the 300 block of S. Ash St. left before an officer arrived. Police heard complaints about a neighbor’s surveillance camera pointing at a resident’s house and about improper parking at Ampride. Police also were called about a property line dispute between neighbors in the 100 block of S. Cedar St. A driver locked out of a vehicle was referred to a locksmith.

Sept. 28 — Police warned the city museum director about suspicious activity on the museum grounds. A reportedly threatening text message was investigated. Vandalism was reported in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. and a stray dog was reported along with a property line dispute in the 100 block of S. Cedar St.

Sept. 29 — Suspicious activity on museum grounds and a bullying complaint at Hillsboro High School were investigated. Police told water crews about a possible water leak in the 500 block of S. Washington St. and referred another locked-out motorist to a locksmith.

Thursday — Police investigated a reported violation of an protection order by spectators at a middle school football game. They also were called to a verbal domestic disturbance in the 300 block of S. Wilson St. Property was returned to a resident.

Friday — A possibly drunken driver headed toward Hillsboro on US-56 was not located. Police were called to a property dispute in the 300 block of S. Main St.

Saturday — Juveniles were warned about violating curfew. A driver was warned for having a faulty headlight. A vehicle possibly coming toward Hillsboro was not found.

Sunday — Police investigated an injury accident, warned a motorist about speeding, and were told about a stray dog.

MARION

Sept. 27 — A dog running free was taken to the Animal Health Center. Police determined no problems were posed by a suspicious person reported near Roosevelt and Nickerson Sts. or by a disconnected call to 911 from the 1200 block of E. Main St.

Sept. 28 — Police discovered an open door at an undisclosed location and secured the building. They also determined there were no problems posed by suspicious activity reported in the 900 block of E. Main St.

Sept. 29 — A dog bite in the 500 block of N. Freeborn St. and a suspicious person in the 1200 block of E. Main St. were investigated.

Thursday — A dog running free in the 300 block of S. Freeborn St. was returned to its pen. The owner of a second dog running free was contacted. A driver was warned for having a faulty headlight. A vehicle was ticketed for illegal parking.

Friday — A driver was cited for driving 37 mph in a 20-mph school zone. A second driver was warned for speeding. Police returned a phone call about a civil matter and could not find a vehicle involved in a driving complaint.

Saturday — Police investigated a noise complaint in the 600 block of S. Cedar St.

Sunday — A child who walked away from a home in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St. was located and returned to a parent. Five drivers were cited for going 79, 80, 81, 83 and 94 mph in a 65-mph zone. Police investigated a report of motorcycles being ridden on the city’s flood-control levee.
