ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

HILLSBORO

Nov. 29 — A smoke detector malfunctioned in the 400 block of W. Grand Ave.

Nov. 30 — A driver was warned for ignoring a stop sign at Orchard and Ash Sts. No violations were found at a fire pit in the 100 block of N. Ash St.

Dec. 1 — A lost wallet was returned. A driver was warned for having an expired license plate in the 100 block of N. Adams St. Suspicious activity in the 200 block of S. Adams St. was investigated.

Thursday — Routine activities.

Friday — A non-injury accident at D and Jefferson Sts. and a complaint of trespassing in the 200 block of Elm St. were investigated. Drivers were warned for not using turn signals at Ash and D Sts. and for an equipment violation at Orchard at Ash Sts.

Saturday — A driver was cited for having an open container of beer. Police met with a resident of the 200 block of Elm St. regarding trespassing. Suspicious activity in the 300 block of S. Birch St., barking dogs in the 100 block of S. Cedar St., and a disconnected 911 call from the 100 block of N. Washington St. were investigated.

Sunday — Another disconnected 911 call from the 100 block of N. Washington St. and a reported violation of a no-contact order in the 400 block of S. Main St. were investigated. Police also were called to discuss a civil issue involving property.

MARION

Nov. 29 – Police discussed a parking issue with a resident.

Nov. 30 – A report of rocks being thrown from one vehicle at passing vehicles was investigated. Police talked to a parent of a juvenile shooting a BB gun in town.

Dec. 1 – A stimulus check and fake identification for its recipient were discovered along with drug residue and paraphernalia during a traffic stop near 3rd and Welch Sts. Investigation and possible charges related to those discoveries remain pending. For now, driver Ronald Pierce Jr., 54, Marion, was cited for allegedly driving while his license was suspended. Passenger Justin Loomis, 28, Marion, was questioned and released.

What was reported as a suspicious person in the 1500 block of Denver St. turned out to be someone waiting for a ride. A driver was warned for speeding.

Thursday – Three drivers were warned about speeding or equipment violations.

Friday – Police met with a parent about an out-of-control juvenile and found no problems after checking what had been reported as a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of Garfield St.

Saturday – A commercial alarm in the 200 block of E. Main St. accidentally was triggered.

Sunday – Police met with a guardian of an out-of-control juvenile.
