ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

March 21 — A vehicle illegally parked in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. was tagged for towing. A report of a suspicious vehicle in 200 block of N. Adams St. proved to be unfounded.

March 22 — Chainsaws were reported stolen from a trailer. Police attempted to locate a vehicle that passed a stopped school bus on K-15. Damage to a fence in the 300 block of S. Washington St. was found to be weather-related.

March 23 — Police helped a locked-out motorist. Drivers were warned for equipment violations at Adams and B Sts. and on US-56.

Thursday — An injury accident at Ash St. and Grand Ave. was investigated. A report of graffiti in the 100 block of S. Main St. was found not to be a criminal matter. A driver was cited for speeding in the 700 block of S. Ash St. Another was warned for an equipment violation at Ash St. and US-56.

Friday — A person inside a vehicle illegally parked in the 600 block of E. C St. was ticketed for possession of marijuana and asked to move the vehicle. Police said if the amount of marijuana found is small, the case can be processed through municipal court. A motorist was cited for driving with a revoked license at Main and B Sts. Another was warned for an equipment violation at Adams St. and US-56. Kids shooting an air rifle were warned. Debris was removed from B St. Police helped with a child custody issue.

Saturday — A driver was ticketed for marijuana possession, speeding, and having no insurance at 180th and Indigo Rds. Another motorist was warned for failing to signal a turn and failing to stay in a proper traffic lane on 190th Rd. at the city airport. A vehicle being pushed out of a shed rolled into a gas meter in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. A Facebook account reportedly was hacked, but police determined no crime had been committed. The owner of a wallet found in the park was notified.

Sunday — A motorcyclist reported to be speeding on Adams St. was located and warned.

MARION

March 21 — Two people were arrested on drug charges after a search warrant was executed in the 500 block of N. Cedar St. An arrest warrant for a third person is being sought. A vehicle tagged for towing in the 100 block of Eastmoor St. later was moved.

March 22 — A motorist was warned for speeding. Police attempted to check on the welfare of a resident of the 300 block of S. Cedar St. but could not find the person.

March 23 — A possibly suicidal person later was located in McPherson County. A report of theft in the 500 block of N. Cedar St. was found to be a civil matter. Police talked to a motorist whose vehicle had broken down in the 200 block of S. 3rd St.

Thursday — A 21-year-old Marion man was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery, battery, and criminal damage to property after police responded to a fight in progress at the same residence in the 500 block of N. Cedar St. where drug arrests had been made three days earlier.

A delayed report of person being slapped in the face during a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of S. Cedar St. resulted in a fruitless search for the alleged perpetrator, a 27-year-old Marion man, and a warrant being sought for his arrest.

A driver was warned for speeding near 5th and Main Sts. Police met with a resident regarding potential harassment.

Friday — Drugs were found in the prisoner compartment of a squad car after a motorist was arrested in the 200 block of Walnut St. on outstanding warrants. Additional charges were sought as a result. A dog running loose in the 200 block of Elm St. was returned to its owner. A runaway juvenile from the100 block of Jefferson St. was located and returned home. A driver was warned for a registration violation.

Saturday — A resident expressed concern about show horses being washed at a car wash, but police determined this was a standard practice. Police helped a motorist whose vehicle was overheating near 3rd and Main Sts. and contacted owners of a piece of farm equipment left with its flashers on in the 900 block of N. Roosevelt St.

Sunday — A commercial alarm in the 1100 block of E. Main St. inadvertently was activated. A possible scam was reported. No problems were found after a disconnected 911 call in the 500 block of S. 3rd St.
