ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

March 28 — Leroy Arseneau, 64, was found dead of natural causes at his residence in the 700 block of S. Washington St.

Police met with juveniles about recent incidents of graffiti.

A driver in the 500 block of E. D St. was cited for speeding and for having an expired driver’s license, no registration, and no insurance. Another driver, this one in the 900 block of E. D St., was warned for speeding.

Dogs owned by a person who lives outside the city were found loose in the city. They were taken to a veterinarian. Dogs reported to have been loose in the 800 block of W. Grand Ave. were found outside the city.

March 29 — A motorist in the 900 block of S. Ash St. was cited for having no driver’s license.

March 30 — Police warned a motorist about illegal parking and assisted a resident with questions about driver’s licenses.

Thursday — An identity theft was reported in the 400 block of N. Ash St. A traffic complaint on US-56 was determined to be unfounded.

Friday — A driver at US-56 and Ash St. was cited for illegal passing and speeding. Drivers at D and Floral Sts. and in the 800 block of S. Ash St. were warned for speeding. A complaint about passing a school bus while the bus was stopped was determined to be unfounded.

Saturday — No sign of injury could be found on three dead foxes in the 300 block of S. Birch St. The case was turned over to the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks to determine whether the foxes might have been poisoned.

A cellular phone was reported lost or stolen.

A driver in the 1100 block of S. Ash St. was cited for speeding and having no license.

Sunday — A dog loose in the 200 block of S. Date St. was taken to a veterinarian.

A driver at US-56 and Ash St. was warned for speeding. A driver in the 900 block of E. D St. was warned for not wearing a seatbelt

MARION

March 28 — Two drivers were warned for speeding. A parking complaint in the 100 block of N. 2nd St. and an accidentally activated commercial alarm in the 1200 block of E. Main St. were investigated. Police met with a resident regarding a possible violation of an order of protection.

March 29 — Two drivers were warned for speeding.

March 30 — An accidentally activated commercial alarm in the 300 block of E. Main St. was investigated. Police met with citizens regarding child custody issues and vehicles that had broken down in a roadway.

Thursday — A driver was warned for not using headlights. Police helped an owner catch a loose dog. An open business door was secured. Debris was removed from the street in the 100 block of N. Freeborn St. Police provided a ride to St. Luke Hospital.

Friday — Police determined no crimes had been committed during two separate disturbances in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St. Four motorists were warned for speeding. Nothing was found after investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 900 block of Highland St. Police checked on a person traveling by foot.

Saturday — A customer was told not to return to Casey’s General Store after a disturbance there. Driver Russell Johnson, 58, of Canton was arrested near 170th and Sunflower Rds. on an outstanding warrant and for allegedly driving with an expired license. A commercial alarm again was accidentally activated in the 1200 block of E. Main St. Police could not find a vehicle that reportedly was being driven recklessly.

Sunday — A motorist was cited near 180th and Old Mill Rds. for driving with a suspended license. Four other motorists, mainly along US-56, were warned for speeding and equipment violations.
