ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

April 4 — Drivers were warned for speeding in the 900 block of E. D St. and for having overly tinted windows on Orchard Dr. Police also met with a resident about parking issues in the 100 block of Willow Rd.

April 5 — A dog running loose outside Casey’s General Store was taken to a veterinary clinic.

April 6 — A traffic stop in the 100 block of S. Washington St. resulted in the arrest of a 25-year-old Florence man on drug and driving charges and for interfering with law enforcement. Found property was returned to a resident. A driver was warning for unsafely changing lanes. A complaint about a dog in the 200 block of S. Adams St. was investigated, and a dog running loose in the 300 block of N. Washington St. was taken to a vet clinic.

Thursday — Police met with school administrators and other law enforcement officers about a potential threat passed along by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. A non-injury accident in 300 block of N. Birch St. was investigated.

Friday — A citizen turned in a wallet someone had lost. A dog owner received help getting his dog back from the vet clinic. A driver was warned for speeding in the 900 block of E. D St., and another was warned for an equipment violation in the 300 block of N. Adams St. A commercial alarm at Bomgaars Supply proved to be accidentally activated. Police helped utility workers investigate a water leak and helped with a child custody issue.

Saturday — Police met with juveniles about a trespassing complaint, contacted a resident about lost property, and responded to a death from natural causes in the 200 block of N. Jefferson St.

Sunday — A 27-year-old Hillsboro woman was arrested after she allegedly pushed her former spouse during a child custody dispute in the 400 block of S. Washington St. Drivers of mini-bikes in the 700 block of W. Grand Ave. were warned to keep their bikes off city streets.

MARION

April 4 — A warning about violation of nuisance property rules was posted on a residence in the 300 block of N. Freeborn St. A possibly abandoned vehicle in the 300 block of Miller St. was tagged for towing if not moved within 48 hours. Police discussed possible violations of an order of protection. Two drivers were warned for equipment violations.

April 5 — A complaint of damage caused by a tenant in the 300 block of W. Main St. was determined to be a civil matter. Arrangements were made with a vehicle owner to move his or her abandoned vehicle from the 1500 block of E. Lawrence St. Police stood by in case of a disturbance during an ambulance call in the 300 block of N. Roosevelt St. Police gave a resident a ride home from St. Luke Hospital.

April 6 — An abandoned vehicle was towed. The welfare of a resident of the 800 block of Weldon St. was checked. Dogs reportedly running loose in the 100 block of S. Roosevelt St. were not found. No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call that originated from the 200 block of E. Main St.

Thursday — Officers patrolled school buildings after a potential threat was relayed by Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Three drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations.

Friday — Police remained at schools throughout the school day. The owner of a dog running loose in the 400 block of E. Santa Fe St. was contacted. Roadway debris was removed from near Freeborn and Main Sts.

Saturday — A woman reported to be blocking access to an automated teller machine at Central National Bank was taken to a hospital at an officer’s request. No action was taken after a disturbance in the 900 block of Maple St. A driver was cited for going 30 mph in a 20-mph zone. Two other drivers received warnings for speeding or equipment violations.

Sunday — Police helped the victim of a fight in the 400 block of S. Birch St. receive medical attention, but the victim declined to cooperate in pressing charges. The case remains under investigation. Police met with a driver whose vehicle was broken down in the Sports and Aquatic Center parking lot. A vehicle in the 1000 block of Hudson St. was tagged for towing if not moved within 48 hours. No report was taken after police returned a call about possible damage to a vehicle. Drivers were ticketed for going 79 and 81 mph in a 65-mph zone. Tickets also were issued for improper display of registration and having no proof of liability insurance
