ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

April 11 — A motorist was cited for having expired registration in the 300 block of N. Ash St. Another motorist was warned for the same offense in the 200 block of S. Ash St. Warnings also were issued for failing to stay in a traffic lane in the 200 block of S. Washington St. and for an equipment violation at US-56 and Orchard Dr. A report of a dog running free in the 400 block of W. Grand Ave. was determined to be unfounded.

April 12 — A report of a dog bite at Hillsboro Sports Complex was investigated. The owner of a dog running loose in the 200 block of S. Adams St. was contacted. A driver was warned about an equipment violation in the 500 block of S. Birch St.

April 13 — Police were unable to catch a dog running free in the 300 block of S. Adams St. Recovered property was returned.

Thursday — A non-injury accident on private property and a car-deer accident on US-56 were investigated. A driver was warned about an improper lane change at Jefferson and A Sts. Motorists at US-56 and Ash St. and on Jade St. and 190th Rd. were assisted.

Friday — A driver was cited for speeding in the 800 block of S. Ash St. A case regarding unemployment fraud was referred to the Kansas Department of Labor.

Saturday — A dog loose in the 200 block of E. 1st St. was taken to a veterinary clinic. A report of a doorbell prankster in the 200 block of E. A St. was determined to be unfounded. Police met with a resident of the 300 block of N. Ash St. about a civil dispute.

Sunday — Police relayed information to Topeka police about a child who may have been abused while visiting there. A motorist was cited for speeding at 170th and Indigo Rds. Other drivers were warned for running a stop sign at US-56 and Jade Rd. and for not having a motorcycle endorsement in the 200 block of E. Grand Ave. Police helped another motorist at US-56 and Jade Rd.

MARION

April 11 — A dog running free in the 100 block of N. Cedar St. eluded capture. Two drivers were warned for speeding.

April 12 — A lost cell phone was returned to its owner. A food stamp Vision card was found and turned over to police. No problems were found after checking a report of suspicious activity in the 100 block of S. Coble St. Three drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations.

April 13 — A report of possible underage driving was determined to be unfounded. Police could not find a person whose welfare they were attempting to check in the 500 block of N. Cedar St., nor could they find what was reported to be a suspicious person in the 400 block of N. Lincoln St. A driver was warned for an equipment violation. Police checked on a disabled vehicle in Batt Industrial Park.

Thursday — Police investigated a report of threats between juveniles using telecommunications devices. Police chief Clinton Jeffrey said investigation showed it was kids “talking smack” to each other. No offense report was written. Monitored transmissions indicate police investigated at rented residences in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. and the 600 block of S. Cedar St. Two drivers were warned about equipment violations. The owner of two dogs running free was contacted.

Friday — After a motorist was warned for having no license plate light, citations were issued for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at an undisclosed location. Another driver was warned for speeding. A license plate was reported lost or stolen in the 100 block of N. Freeborn St.

Saturday — No problems were found after suspicious activity was reported in the 800 block of Birch St. Suspicious activity reported in the 700 block of Sherman St. was explained after police contacted a homeowner. A driver was warned for speeding. Police helped a driver in the 100 block of S. Coble St.

Sunday — Three drivers were warned about equipment violations.
